8 years of mental health support

28 April 2026

8 years ago, our mighty little Charity Metal for Life NI started providing mental health peer support services for our local Metal and Rock community. As a fully registered Charity, we are proud to provide genuine, confidential mental health support to our clients. Emotional struggle and mental ill health is common and does not discriminate. However, recovery is possible given a fair chance, with the right support. It has been a privilege to help our beneficiaries get through some of the hardest times of their lives and see them go on to support others.

All our services are free of charge and we treat all contacts with utmost confidentiality and respect. Our peer support service is enhanced with workshops, projects and outdoor activities. Our voluntary Facilitator team is highly trained and experienced. We encourage self-belief, good communication and mutual respect in a safe environment. No issue is too big or small – if there’s something weighing heavy on your mind, let's talk about it.

You can also help us to help others. Please keep our social media feeds alive by sharing, liking and commenting on our content. Please also consider buying some of our beautiful merch via www.metalforlifeni.co.uk/shop or at local gigs we attend. You may also wish to make a donation via our PayPal Giving Fund here: paypal.com/gb/fundraiser/charity/3768593. All sales and donations are gratefully received and go directly back into fulfilling our charitable purpose.

Our amazing Events Volunteers bring Metal for Life NI to local metal and rock gigs, to support the industry and the wellbeing of our community. A community presence is important for mental health within our scene. Get in touch if you'd like us to join your upcoming gig.

Metal for Life NI was founded in honour of Dani Kansanaho, who lost his life to suicide in 2017. We love him and miss him every day and he is in our hearts in everything we do. Enormous thanks to everyone who has helped and supported us over the last 8 years and to everyone who has reached out to us for help. You are awesome. Cheers, everyone ❤️🤘
